Just 12 miles northwest of Woodward, Oklahoma, Fort Supply Lake is one of Northwest Oklahoma’s premier destinations for fishing, boating, camping, swimming, hunting, birding, and outdoor recreation. Located on Wolf Creek approximately one mile south of Fort Supply, this scenic, man-made lake offers more than 1,700 acres of water surrounded by public recreation and wildlife areas.
Fort Supply Lake is a popular destination for anglers, with excellent fishing for crappie, walleye, white bass, hybrid bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, largemouth bass, and other species. Multiple boat ramps provide convenient access for boaters, while three accessible fishing piers and extensive shoreline offer opportunities for bank fishing.
Visitors can spend an entire weekend enjoying the outdoors at Fort Supply Lake. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates two multi-use recreation areas with developed campsites, including sites with electric and water hookups, campfire rings, picnic areas, beaches, sanitary facilities, and easy access to the shoreline. Many campsites are located directly along the water, making it convenient to fish, swim, or launch a boat just steps from camp.
A designated swimming beach and sandy areas along the eastern side of the lake provide places to swim, sunbathe, and enjoy the shoreline. The lake's natural sand beaches and scenic surroundings also make Fort Supply a popular destination for sightseeing and photography.
Outdoor adventure continues beyond the lake. Approximately 6,000 acres of public hunting land around Fort Supply Lake are managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. Hunting opportunities include deer, bobwhite quail, turkey, pheasant, dove, waterfowl, and other game, subject to current Oklahoma hunting regulations. The area also provides opportunities for birding and wildlife viewing throughout the year.
The lake features an onsite Visitor Center with displays highlighting native wildlife, arrowheads, and historical artifacts. Fort Supply's location also places visitors near the historic Fort Supply site, which preserves an important part of Northwest Oklahoma's frontier history. The original military outpost, established in 1868, played a significant role in the region's military, Native American, and western history.
