The park's towering dunes range from approximately 25 to 75 feet high and were formed from ancient terrace deposits left behind when the prehistoric Cimarron River flowed across the area. Today, these natural sand dunes provide an exceptional setting for ATV, OHV, and dune buggy riding, making Little Sahara a premier destination for off-road enthusiasts from Oklahoma and throughout the Midwest.
Visitors can bring their own approved off-road vehicle or rent an ATV from a private vendor outside the park before exploring the dunes. The expansive riding area offers opportunities for beginners and experienced riders alike to experience the thrill of navigating the sand, hills, and open dune terrain.
Little Sahara State Park also offers accommodations and amenities for visitors who want to make a weekend of their adventure. RV campsites with water, electric, and sewer hookups, tent camping sites, picnic areas, and comfort stations are available. Campsites must be reserved online.
