The City of Woodward is beaming with pride as Boiling Springs Golf Club has been officially named one of the 18 elite courses on the newly established Oklahoma Golf Trail — and is the only course selected in northwest Oklahoma. This honor places Boiling Springs among the premier golf destinations in the state, showcasing Woodward as a must-visit location for golf enthusiasts from around the country.

“This recognition is a major win not just for Boiling Springs but for all of Woodward,” says Woodward’s City Manager, Shaun Barnett. “It reflects years of dedication and vision, and it puts our community on the map for national golf tourism. We are excited for what this means for our city’s future.”

The Oklahoma Golf Trail, launched through House Bill 3647 during the 2022 Legislative Session, was created by the Oklahoma Golf Trail Commission to promote the state’s most iconic public and private golf courses. This initiative not only elevates Oklahoma’s reputation as a golf destination but also celebrates its rich history in the sport, from legendary figures like Gil Morgan and Charlie Coe to today’s stars like Talor Gooch and Scott Verplank.

Boiling Springs Golf Club offers a striking, sandbelt-style layout that carves through juniper-covered ridges, native arroyos, and exposed rock formations. It’s a course that rewards bold play, demands creativity, and leaves a lasting impression.

“Being named to the Oklahoma Golf Trail is an incredible honor,” says Sean Galaway, General Manager of Boiling Springs Golf Club. “Our team has poured everything into making Boiling Springs a world-class experience, and to be recognized like this, especially as the only course in northwest Oklahoma, is truly gratifying.”

A recent renovation and continued stewardship have transformed Boiling Springs into one of the state’s most talked-about destinations for serious players and casual golfers alike.

Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell, a driving force behind the trail’s creation, praised the initiative: “This initiative shines a spotlight on some of Oklahoma’s best and most unique courses, positioning our state as a top-tier golf destination while driving tourism and economic growth across the state.”

As part of the Oklahoma Golf Trail, Boiling Springs will now be featured in marketing campaigns and tourism promotions across the region, further boosting local visitation and economic impact. The course will be included alongside the state’s most iconic golf experiences, from Perry Maxwell-designed classics to modern architectural marvels.

“This designation opens the door for more visitors to discover what makes Woodward special,” says Megan Johnston, Director of Tourism for the City of Woodward. “From golf to local hospitality, we’re ready to welcome travelers and show them why Boiling Springs, and Woodward, are worth the trip.”

Sheila Dills, chair of the Oklahoma Golf Trail Commission, summed up the initiative perfectly: “The Trail celebrates the incredible range of courses across Oklahoma. Whether you’re a scratch golfer or picking up a club for the first time, there’s something here for everyone.”

Boiling Springs is a course unlike any other in the region — and now, the rest of the world will know it too.
