West Woodward Airport to Host Ribbon-Cutting for New Terminal Building, Airport Improvements Feb. 13

WHO: West Woodward Airport and the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to recognize the completion of new airport projects on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026. The public is invited to celebrate this milestone at West Woodward Airport located at 1301 Air Park Rd in Woodward, Okla.


WHAT: West Woodward Airport (KWWR) is embarking on an exciting journey of transformation. The airport has undergone significant upgrades including:

  • New Terminal Building and Parking Lot

  • Corporate Box Hangar and Apron

  • South Taxilane and Access Road

  • Construction of Utilities Supporting New Terminal and Hangar Development


WHEN: Fly-ins are encouraged to begin arrival at 9:30 a.m. Welcoming remarks will begin at 10:30 a.m. The ribbon cutting will be held at 11:30 a.m.


WHY: Funded by Oklahoma’s PREP (Preserving Rural Economic Prosperity) program, this initiative aims to transform the airport into a modern hub for both business and general aviation. Originally established in 2022 by the Oklahoma State Legislature, the PREP fund is an initiative designed to fuel economic growth, infrastructure improvements, and workforce development in the state’s rural communities. These investments will foster regional growth by increasing facilities and capacity. The City of Woodward is focused on enhancing revenue-generating storage and attracting new aviation businesses, ensuring a prosperous future for the greater western Oklahoma region.

10:35 AM – Formal Comments Begin

11 AM – Ribbon-cutting

11:15 AM – Light refreshments served; networking

The mission of the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics is to promote aviation, which includes ensuring that the needs of commerce and communities across the state are met by the state’s 107 publicly owned airports that comprise the Oklahoma Airport System, and helping ensure the viability of the state’s aerospace industry.

The Oklahoma Aviation & Aerospace Industry produces just under $44B in annual economic activity, making it the second largest economic engine in our state. The average salary in the industry is $73,300 making it one of the highest average salaries in the state.  The state has 107 public airports in its system with over 96% of our population being within 30 minutes from one of the 44 airports with a 5,000 foot, jet-capable runway.
